This puppy was sitting by the road on the outskirts of Arusha, in the north of Tanzania (East Africa), and the passing cars only miraculously did not touch him.

The puppy was lucky for a long time, but soon he would probably have fallen under the wheels of cars if five small children had not noticed him.
Goodluck, Cuthbert, Karen, Prince and Kenny were returning that day from the local elementary school.
The parents of these children were obviously not rich, but the boys could not get past the little puppy and took pity on him and took him with them.

The children were from one big family and when they brought the puppy home, their parents scolded them and said that the dog was just another mouth, and they had nothing to feed it.
The children named the puppy Jack and did not want to leave him.
The puppy was very thin and very hungry, he would not last long on the street.

They decided to find a place where he could stay.
Soon they were lucky, they found out about a guy named Mungaya, who helps homeless dogs and cats and who has several street dogs at home.
Mungaya calls his house a “very small shelter” and he didn’t have room for another dog.

But when he saw these five kids begging him to help puppy Jack, his heart melted.
“These children made me happy when I realized that they have good hearts. Yes, it will be difficult for me, since there are no more places in my shelter, but I really wanted to help Jack,” says Mungaya.

Mungaya said he wants to start looking for a suitable home for Jack, and maybe he will be lucky and the dog will find an owner abroad in a richer country if they read about it in the media.
At the shelter, Jack met other young dogs who live there, and the children who rescued the puppy from the road now often go to the shelter to play with him.
