That’s what some actors learned recently, when they gave a performance that was a little too real and a dog stepped up to steal the show.
Recently an actor named Numan Ertuğrul Uzunsoy was in an outdoor theater production in Turkey, and in once scene had to pretend to be injured.
‘The character I played was injured and in great pain,’ he told The Dodo. “He’d fallen off a horse, and was breathing hard.”
But his performance was apparently very convincing, because at least one audience member thought it was real: a stray dog!
Apparently unfamiliar with theater, the dog seemed to think Numan was actually hurt, and ran over to check on him.
As the dog licked the actor’s face, the actors couldn’t help but “break.”
“I was very happy when I felt the dog’s kisses,” Numan said. “I was very touched. He was like an angel who wanted to help me. It was a very emotional moment for me. I was not expecting it.”
The audience reportedly loved the moment, and the actors were touched by the dog’s kindness. A crew member escorted the dog off stage so the play could continue, and apparently the stray wandered off again.
Turkey is known for their kindness to stray animals, and it seems the street dogs will repay the favor by helping people in need. Meanwhile, Numan says he’s going to try and help the dog if he can find him.
“The next day I went to the same place, looking for him. People told me he usually hangs out there. I went again today,” Numan told The Dodo.
